Your top 5 highlights in August in Berlin

August in Berlin is a month full of variety, events and culture. From exciting circus performances to historic film screenings and peaceful demonstrations – the city has something for everyone. Here are our top 5 tips for an unforgettable August in Berlin!

1. Long Night of the Museums

On August 24, 2024, more than 70 museums in Berlin will open their doors for a special nocturnal voyage of discovery. The Long Night of Museums offers you the opportunity to experience exhibitions, guided tours, workshops and special events until the late hours. Whether you like art, history, science or technology, this night offers something for everyone and allows you to discover Berlin’s cultural diversity in a unique way.

Extra tip: An additional tip for August is the colonnades Bar on Museum Island – so why not combine it with the Long Night of Museums 🤩 Here you can immerse yourself in the charming historic Kolonnaden courtyard, enjoy cool drinks and have stimulating conversations. The bar is open Thursdays to Saturdays from 16:00 to 22:00 and Sundays from 16:00 to 20:00. Thursday evenings from 18:30 are particularly worthwhile, when DJs and artists provide a cultural and musical program.

Films dealing with the GDR past, repression, revolution and coming to terms with the past will be shown in the inner courtyard. Films such as “Novemberkind”, “Westwind” and “Stilles Land” will be shown, which were produced after 1989 and begin with material from the Stasi archives. Before the film screenings, take the opportunity to visit the open-air exhibition “Revolution and the Fall of the Wall” and the permanent exhibition in the Stasi archive, which are also accessible free of charge.

5. “Zug der Liebe” 2024 (Train of Love)
